The Jacobson Institute has need of student workers for camp counselor positions each summer. These are paid positions, and work dates for 2019 are June 10-14 and June 17-21. We are hiring for all our camp locations: Iowa City area, Marion and Des Moines. Gain hands-on, real-world job experience working with kids!
A special note to College of Education students: This is an opportunity to earn hands-on experience and interact with parents and the certified Iowa teachers who serve as lead instructors of our camps. It is possible to volunteer as a camp counselor with us to meet your graduation requirement for 40 volunteer hours, or you may apply for a paid position. Please specify your preference in your application.
Required qualifications:
- 3.0 minimum GPA
- Outstanding attention to organization and detail
- Ability to confidently communicate and network
- Desire to ask questions and learn
- Confidence in taking the lead on activities
- Willingness to work with children and/or parents
Additional desired qualifications:
- Experience with children
Hours required:
- 40 hours per week
Job responsibilities include:
- Assistance with summer camps: logistics, on-site program support, summer camp farmers market facilitation, supervision of children
- Requires willingness and ability to travel off-campus
- Other miscellaneous tasks as appropriate
